| Kailash & Lake Manasarovar- The Heaven of the Earth |
|
According the Srutis and Smirtis Mt. Kailash, The snow jewel crowning the roof of the world, is the most sacred and admired. Kailash is also known as Mt. Meru, the centre of cosmos, navel or the axis of Earth, Mt. Sumeru etc. According to the Hindu Mythology Lord Siva resides on the summit of Kailash and is in constant meditation ensuring continuity of three aspects of the universe - creation, preservation and destruction. Thus Siva represents the Trinity - Brahma, Vishnu and Mahadeva. Kailash is Siva personified and he takes earthly form in Kailash. It is in the centre of the universe and the sun, the moon, the stars an all the higher and lower worlds regularly circumambulate (round) this centre, Kailash, unlike other mountains of the world, has distinct shape with features most peculiar and pious both outwardly and eternally that are not known anywhere else. Kailash rises like symmetrical domed rock temple covered with ice and snow. It is hence in the shape of lingam. It is said that Gyanganj (Siddha Bhumi), the Ultimate secret home for immortals, is situated in the region beyond Kailash and it is not possible to go there without ascetic powers. Siddhas go there flying. It is no wonder then that the holier than the holiest Kailash which is the metaphysical representation of Lord Siva is located near the land of Gynaganj is situated in the region of the WESTERN TIBET.
The holy Manas - Sarovar or Manasarovar, the Tso Mapham or Tso Mavang of the Tibetans, is the holiest, the most fascinating, the most inspiring, the most famous of all the lakes in the world and the ancient that civilization knows. "Manasarovar is the first Lake known to the geography. Lake Manasarovar is famous in Hindu Mythology; before the down of history; Manasarovar had become the sacred Lake and such it has remained for four Millenniums.' She is majestically calm and dignified like a huge bluish - green emerald or pure turquoise lake set between the two mighty and equally majestic silvery Mountains, The Kailash on the north and the Gurla Mandhata on the south. The Lake Manasarovar, "the mother principle" represents transcendental consciousness. Legend has that the gods and goddesses come to Manasarovar to have holy dip in the dawn.
Ancient cosmography identifies the Mount Kailash with the mighty mountain 'SUMERU" the central peak of the world. To Buddhist' the "Father Mountains" represents the means to enlightenment. The lake Manasarovar, the "Mother Principle" represents transcendental consciousness. Hindus consider the mount Kailash to be the throne of Lord Shiva, one of the three principle gods in Hinduism. Whose long melted hair forms the holy Gange (Gange River). As a Ban center, Mount Kailash enjoys great popularity in the folk religion of Tibet. It is the soul of the country and assures protection for all Tibetans. Jain religion regards to Mount Astapada, is situated on the lap of the hoy Mount Kailash. Astamatrikagan Parbat and Dakshin Murti Shivalayan are viewable from the Serlung Gompa. Jain religion believes that theirs' twenty-fourth Tirthankar "Risavdev" attain the salvation on the top of the Astapada.
According to the Hindus Mythology, Lord Shiva spend his most of the time on the top of the holy Mount Kailash, practicing Yoga austerities, joy and love with his divine consort Parbati (Matra of the universe). The Lake Manasarovar and the holy Mount Kailash are the SOUL of all AUM followers in the world.
There are three abodes of three principal Gods: the Abode of the creator Bramha is called Brahma Lok, the Abode of Vishnu is called Baikuntha and the Abode of Devadi Dev Mahadev is called Kailash. Either Bramha Lok or Baikuntha one cannot visit by physically.
There is only one abode of Devadi Dev Mahadev is "Kailash" where one can go with body and return with the greatest experience and illumination of life.
"Conventional wisdom says a single circuit of Mt. Kailash wipes out the sins of a lifetime, 108 Parikramas guarantees enlightenment. A ritual bath in the sacred Manasarovar Lake will deliver a pilgrim to Brahma's paradise and a drop drink of its water relinquishes the sins of hundred lifetimes."
- Manasarovar & Holy Mt. Kailash -
"O Thou Lord of the universe, the creator and destroyer of the universe, who has all forms, Whose body is the universe and who is the support of the Gunas in the three worlds, whose art worshiped by all, the all merciful One, the friend of the downtrodden, O thou ruler of the universe, protect me who am forlorn in the wilderness of the miseries of this world. ... (Adi Sankaracharya). The world TIBET is originated from Ti - Both, which means northern plateau in Tibetan language. In Sanskrit literature Tibet known as Kinner Khand, Kimpurusha Khand, Trivishapta, Swarge Bhoomi or Svarna Bhoomi. At the center of the earth, there stands a great mountain, Lord of Snows, majestic, rooted in the sea, its summit wreathed in clouds, a measuring rod for all creation. - Kalidas- There is no mountain like Himalchal, for in it are Kailash and Manasarovar. As the dew is dried up by the morning sun, so are the sins of the world dried up at this sight of Himachal. -The Ramayana- The journey into the Land of the Gods and goddess commences through a small gateway; Yama Dwar named after Yama, the Lord of Death. The symbolic significance is huge and is a reminder of the Katha Upanishad where Nachiketas waited for 3 days at Yama's door to be enlightened. |
